You might be wondering what the Queer & Spicy or Neurospicy art group is actually like before deciding whether to book. Firstly, let's look at the difference between the two groups.

The Neurospicy Art Group is for neurodivergent adults over 35.

The Queer & Spicy Art Group is for LGBTQIA+ neurodivergent adults over 18. They both have the same format and run on alternate Saturdays.

What happens in during the sessions?

Each term you'll attend 5 sessions that are two hours long. In each session we'll explore a different art or craft activity, with equipment and materials provided. I'll briefly introduce the activity and give you some structure and prompts, but there's no expectation that you produce a particular kind of artwork. It's fairly loose and informal. You can also bring your own project to work on. Some people bring origami paper or their own colouring sheets.

The activities for the upcoming term 4 (mid starting Oct 2026) include:

  • Making nature cyanotype images

  • Crafting colourful polymer clay jewellery

  • Creating a Tetra pack giclée print

  • Drawing an oil pastel still life

  • Creating greeting cards with mini stamps and collage

Neurodivergent designed and led

As a queer, neurodivergent person I bring my lived experience to the groups and design them especially to help people feel safe, comfortable and to have fun! I provide prompts and scaffolding for introductions and conversation starters to help get conversation flowing, although your level of participation and interaction is completely up to you. You can chat, listen to music through your headphones, work quietly or ask for help. You can leave early or arrive late. There's free snacks and coffee/tea available to have at any time.

Some comments from recent participants:

"A friendly and welcoming group and coordinator!"

"I liked the relaxed, all adult atmosphere"

"It  was safe and comfortable with snacks and just being able to do things at your own pace"

"Very fun and engaging!"
